New Sucker Rod Inspection

New Sucker RodsThose who have made the decision to inspect their new rods have told us that their decision to inspect was based on their own experience with failures.  Historically, after inspecting their new rods, they were shocked to find that their reject rate ranged between 2% and 12%.  Typically every string of new rods will have rejects, and some strings have had over a 20% reject rate.

In addition to culling your failures in a new string of sucker rods, our inspection process will reduce the residual stress in your rods which resulted from the manufacturing process.  We will improve the corrosion resistance of your rod.  Through our shot peening process, we will increase the case hardness by the pre-stress compression applied at the surface of your rod.  This will give you the option of purchasing a less expensive rod that will perform as good as its more expensive counterparts that have not been shot peened.

When TRC inspects your new rods, we'll put your rods through the same processes as our used rod reconditioning services, plus:

  • Rod Pin Ends Gauged with P-8 & P-6 Gauges
  • Wrench Flat dimensional measurements
  • Body Straightness, T.I.R. measurement
  • Upset bead measurement
  • Coupling Gauging with B-2 & B-6 Gauge
  • Palletizing
